Scribbles (your 2 cents)

This area is for you to contribute anything that comes to mind.

If we met at an event or you are an old friend of mine this is a place you can say hello.

If you have any cool ideas for visual worship you can start a discussion here. If I think that it is really good I will start a new subject specifically about your idea.

Have fun!

I saw you at NYC '03 in Houston, TX. Your work is awesome.

Great blog. I feel called to lead worship, but it seems that so many churches are hesitant to incorporate ALL of the arts... seeing worship as just music... so my style doesn't fit too well! What have you done to get churches/large events to accept what you do as an appropriate part of the worship process?

Wow... good question. I wish there was an easy answer but to me it seems that it varies from group to group. The best tool we have in a situation like this is to send a sample video out to groups who seem to be on the edge. Sometimes the problem is that in more conservative audiences change tough to pull off. Other groups don't want to spend money on an artist. As for convincing large events the trick is to do well at small events. And the real trick is to go for free. If people don't want to pay lower your price. I worked for free for a little over a year. I was not intending to start a carrer, I just felt called to use my gifts. Eventually I was busy enough to ask for a few bucks. God provided. Thanks Lisa

Mike and Ann, I have a feeling this is going to snowball into a wonderful thing. You have a special gift and annointing that goes beyond the visual, into a creative aspect of who you are, that you are now discovering and will continue to learn of as time goes on. Because you have dedicated your talent to the cause of Christ, He will bless you far beyond measure with more talent and giftings because you are faithful. We're looking forward to hanging with you both over the New Years Holiday.....Be blessed and we'll see you soon.....mt

I came across this website because of my dad's blog. He is a musician and had one of your paintings on his blog. I have always been drawn to the arts, tho no artist I am....I love theater tho and wish with my whole heart that that can be more a part of worship. The things I have seen have been nothing short of cheese and I pray that someday the Lord can use me to revolutionize Christian Theater. For His glory only. I am encouraged by what you are doing. God Speed Sir.

Mike,

Just posted on the post concerning worship and the church today. Hope to hop in here a little more often that I have.

It's cool to see how you have ministered to and encouraged people in so many different ways. Never forget that God uses you even when you are sure that he isn't.

Hurry up and get to Nashville so we can visit about once a month or so!

Can't speak highly enough of the impact you had at Concordia today! We can't wait to have you back. Blessings on your upcoming travels!

PEACE!

(p.s. - apparently your speaking voice is "hot" as the kids say, good luck with all that)

Mike:
It's jennie (the reporter from cincinnati). I just wanted to tell you again how cool the glass painting was at YS in Cincy. It was amazing to see Christ revealed when you added the white to the back ground. So awesome and fresh! I cannot wait to see how God moves you to develop your gifts next!
Thanks. It added so much to our worship experience. Last month, we were on retreat and one of your paintings was hanging over the fire place at the retreat center. It was like seeing an old friend.
Congratulations on your new addition. This will be a very special holiday season for your family, I am sure.
Blessings to you all,
Jennie
